MTA as a partner of the railway challenge 2023
The Railway Challenge (RWC) is an international competition in which several teams of up to 15 people compete against each other with a specially developed 1:5 scale locomotive.
This is precisely what students from the Nuremberg University of Technology, under the direction of the Institute of Automotive Engineering, have set themselves as their goal and are taking part in the Railway Challenge “Continental Edition” in Bad Schussenried, Germany. Among other things, they will have to prove themselves in the areas of design, automatic target braking and ride comfort.
Movable bogies, single-wheel controlled motors, purely electric brakes and the absence of pneumatics are the characteristics that should lead to success at the competition in early June 2023.
In this context, MTA as a cooperation partner supports IFZN as a full service provider and specialist with the appropriate drive components (wheel hub drive), as well as the corresponding control system (dual axle controller) – components see photo above.
Our contact person for the RWC team at IFZN, Mr. Greiner-Fuchs, is also looking forward to the cooperation with MTA: “IFZN is glad to have a strong and reliable partner at its side with MTA, which will enable participation in the upcoming Railway Challenge with the appropriate drive concept.”
